Funeral services for Luther Lanier Allen, 81, of near Knightdale, who died in Mary Elizabeth Hospital here Monday night after a three-week illness, will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Knightdale Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Allen was a charter member of the church. The Rev M. W. Warren, pastor of the church, and the Rev. R. L. Costner, pastor of the Knightdale Baptist Church, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be John Bullock, Thorpe Blackard, B. C. Hodge, M. W. Bennett, Jr., Woodrow Smith and Russell Griffin.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. E. C. Carr of Farmville, Mrs. Dwight Avery of Raleigh, and Mrs. Cary Upchurch of the home, and Mrs. Willis Hipps of Canton; two sons, L. Webb Allen and W. E. Bill) Allen, both of Raleigh; two sisters, Mrs. Harper Wrenn of Oxford and Miss Mary Willie Allen of Washington, D. C.; two brothers, Claude Allen of Washington, D. C., and A. Y. Allen of Youngsville; and nine grandchildren.
