Geo. R Banning one of Marion's oldest citizens died at 4 o'clock on Wednesday after a long illness. Relatives of the deceased have been sent for, and the time for the funeral will be set by the family. The deceased leaves a widow and two sons, George and Edward F, both grown. Geo R. Banning was a familiar figure to those of Marion's citizens who have spent their lives in this place. He was a cousin of Congressman Banning, who died at Cincinnati some years ago, and a brother of Col. Jacob Banning, deceased. The deceased was a shoemaker by trade, and his son Ed F still follows the trade.
