|A tract of three acres was purchased by John B. Purcell, the Catholic Bishop of Cincinnati in 1837 for use as the St. Augustine church cemetery. This cemetery was one of the few Catholic places of burial in northwest Ohio during this time. Deceased Catholics from the surrounding area were buried here with those of the parish. Irish catholic canal laborers were brought here for burial from 1838-1842. There are many unmarked graves from the Cholera outbreaks, the most severe in 1849. Information taken from "Pilgrims All; A history of St. Augustine Parish."|
