Violet Marie Mansfield Beach, 101, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, in Hornings Mills, Ontario, Canada.

Violet Mansfield was born to Winton and Louie Zoann Mansfield on Jan. 31, 1900, in Winfield, Kan. Her father owned and operated the taxi service with his horse and carriage.

During her early adult years, Ms. Mansfield worked for the Kerr clothing store in Winfield.

She married Bert Otis Beach on Sept. 11, 1933. They had one child born to their union, Bruce M. Beach.

The Beach family moved to Wellington, Kan., in the early 1940s and purchased their home at 715 S. Washington.

Mrs. Beach worked for the Registrar of Deeds office, Bryan Packard Motor Company and Mobil Oil Company on the Turnpike as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1972.

She was active in community bridge and dinner clubs. She was a member of the Christian Science Church.

Mrs. Beach was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Royce Mansfield; her husband, Bert O. Beach; and two grandsons, Bradley Beach and Bahji Beach.

She is survived by her son, Bruce M. Beach and his wife, Jean Beach, of Hornings Mills, Ontario; daughter-in-law, Maxi Howe of Wellington; and five grandchildren, Timothy Beach of Taiwan, Brenda Stewart and Brian Beach of Wellington, Bahia Eldner of Barrie, Ontario, and Bonnar Beach of Hornings Mills, Ontario. Thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter also survive her.

Mrs. Beach alternated her residence between their family home in Wellington and in Hornings Mills, Ontario, Canada, for the past four years, under Bruce and Jean Beach's care until her death.

Visitation will be held at the Frank Funeral Home in Wellington on Friday, Aug. 10, from 1 to 9 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.

Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Winfield at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11.

The family wishes to assist with those wanting transportation to the graveside. Please contact a family member.
