Garlon L. Turner, Sr., 60, of the 8700 block of Adams Drive East, died on April 17, 2010 in Isle of Wight County. He was born in Capron, VA and was a 1967 graduate of I. C. Norcom High School and a 1992 graduate of Norfolk State University. He was an Operations Manager for Norfolk and Southern Railroad and retired in 2003 after 34 years of service. He was also employed at L.M. Sandler and Sons, Inc. as a Field Superintendent. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and Smithfield Men of Music. He was also a member of I.C. Norcom Alumni Association, Norfolk State University Alumni Association and the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn D. Turner of Suffolk; two sons: Garlon Turner, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA and Jermaine Turner of Suffolk; sister, Gloria Turner Fonseca; three brothers: Gilbert Turner, Glenn Turner and Garrick Turner; three grandchildren: JaTayla Turner, Zhane' Turner and Kmari Turner; great aunts: Gladys Turner, Esmond Lambert, Lena Wyche and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jennie and James Turner
