WEST YARMOUTH - Carl G. Carlson, 81, died Monday at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.
He was the husband of Josephine L. (Bicchieri) Carlson.
Mr. Carlson was born, raised and educated in Waltham and a 1942 graduate of Waltham High School.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Waltham Street Dept. He retired in 1984 and moved to West Yarmouth.
He was a former member of the Cape Cod Old Timers Softball League and an avid sports fan.
He enjoyed reading, fishing, crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Richard H. Carlson of Natick and Carl G. Carlson Jr. of Newtonville; a brother, Reinhold A. Carlson of Waban; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Burial is private.
