Lillian Ahring
Mrs. William F. Ahring, the former Lillian Christine Nelson, was born on Aug. 29, 1885, at Lincoln, Kan., and departed this life April 17, 1957, in the Lincoln County hospital at the age of 71 years and 7 months.
Lillie was one of six children born to Charles and Ida Nelson. Both of her parents have preceded her in death, her mother when Lillie was 11 years old.
Her entire life was spent in Lincoln county, her childhood and youth in the Pleasant Valley community, and after her marriage, on the farm where she resided at the time of her death. She attended school at the Pleasant Valley school. It was also at Pleasant Valley that she was baptized and attended Sunday school where the late Rev. Mr. Bradbury had organized a church and Sunday school.
Lillie was united in marriage on Dec. 31, 1905, to William F. Ahring of Lincoln. They went to housekeeping on the farm south of Lincoln and continued to live there on the same farm for over 51 years. To this union six children were born, all of whom survive with the exception of one daughter, Esther (Kissick), who passed away in 1947.
Lillie leaves to mourn her death her husband of the home; her children, Mrs. Ruth Zartman, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Mrs. Hazel White, Lincoln; Mrs. Marie Lingle, Granada Hills, Calif.; Emerson, Denver; Lloyd, Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W.C. Feldkamp, Lincoln; and two stepbrothers, Golden Morris of Lincoln and Joseph Morris of Salina; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Lillie was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and a friend to all. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were at the Lincoln Presbyterian church Saturday with interment in the Lincoln cemetery.
