James Rowan (sic), one of the old residents of the county, died at the Livingston hospital this morning. Mr. Rowan had recently returned from California, where he had gone for his health, and arriving here when the weather was severe, was taken sick again. He was taken to the hospital in the hope that medical treatment and the best of care would result in his regaining his former health. But the efforts were unsuccessful and at 5:45 o'clock he passed away. Relatives from Springdale, where Mr. Rowan made his home, will arrive this evening and make arrangements for the funeral services. Heart trouble was the cause of death. He was about 50 years of age.

The body of James Rowan was taken to Royalton Wisconsin, Saturday on No. 4, where interment will be made. Samuel Rowan, a brother of the deceased, accompanied the body. Mr. Rowan's death was the cause of much sorrow among his many friends and came as a great surprise, as he had but recently returned from California, and most of his neighbors had not seen him since his arrival in the city.

This community was shocked to hear of the sudden death of James Rowen at Livingston Friday morning. He is survived by three sisters and one brother in Wisconsin and one sister, Mrs. Springer, and brother, Samuel, here.
