Mrs. Doucet a native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Lafayette died on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at 8:56AM at her residence. Mildred first moved to Lafayette in 1957 to help her husband run their agri-business where their passion became aiding farmers throughout South Louisiana and promoting agriculture in the state. She was very active in her community and her church where she was a member of the St. Joseph Alter Society, The Funeral Choir, and brought communion to the sick and elderly. Her greatest gift was the value of family she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She was a very accepting, loving mother who loved her children unconditionally and gave selflessly of herself to provide an endless bounty of love and support. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her husband Roland Doucet of Lafayette; six children, Trudy and her huband Bill Blanchard of Broussard, Dale and his wife Ginger Doucet of Milton, Andrea and her husband Garry Brodhead of Lafayette, Jodie and her husband Eddie Gerard of Milton, Damon Doucet of Lafayette, and Deidre and her husband Chad Toups of Lafayette; sixteen grand children, Jared, Jason, and Will Blanchard, Marquerite Doucet Blanchard, Marc and August Doucet, Ashley Brodhead Richard, Blair and Beau Brodhead, Landon and Trae Fitzgerald, Dylan Gerard, Angelle Doucet, Taylor Touchet, Macy and Bailey Toups; four great grandchildren, and a brother, Daniel Simon of Gonzales, LA. She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Angelle Gaspard Simon, and a brother that died at the age of two.
