OBITUARY :
JAMES H. SHINDLE, 70, of 415 Walnut St. died Tuesday morning at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Upton, the son of the late Harry F. and Carrie Schaff Shindle.

Prior to his retirement in 1969 he was employed as a machinist at the Landis Machine Company for more than 40 years. He was a member of the First Brethren Church, and the Mechanics Fire Company, both of Waynesboro.

In addition to his wife, Betty V. Jones Shindle he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Wallace Reed of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, James C. Shindle of Rt. 3, Waynesboro, and Richard D. Shindle of San Antonio Texas; one sister, Mrs. Hope Myers of Rt. 4; Waynesboro, and two brothers, Motte Shindle of Waynesboro and Sanford Shindle of Rochester, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro with the Rev. Wendell E. Kent officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
