Edward R. Barr of West Brandywine

Edward R. Barr, 55, of West Brandywine, loving husband of Darlene Whitfield Barr for 31 years, died on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Feb. 23, 1955, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Edward L. and Evelyn M. Ricciardi Barr.
Ed was a 1978 graduate of William Patterson University in Wayne, N.J., with a bachelor's degree in business.
He was most recently employed as the local food sales representative for Tyson Food Inc.
A member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in West Brandywine, he served there as an usher.
Over the years he volunteered at St. Martha Manor Nursing Home in Downingtown and St. Mary's in Elverson.
Ed was an active member in both the local Democratic Party and Alcoholics Anonymous.
Ed was the loving father of a daughter, Charlene Lewis and her husband, Greg Jr. of West Caln; a son, Edward Jr. of West Brandywine; and the devoted grandfather to Gregory Lewis III and Gianna Lewis, also of West Caln. Ed was also uncle to a number of nieces and nephews.
A brother, Alan, preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment in All Souls Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, at the Maclean-Chamberlain Funeral Home Inc. Route 340, Wagontown, and also from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, followed by procession to the church.
In Ed's memory, those who wish may make contributions to either Martins Corner Fire Company, 106 Martins Corner Road, Coatesville, PA 19320; or to AA World Service Inc., P.O. Box 459, New York, NY 10163.
