Aline Ross was born in Floyd County, October 5, 1917 and was the daughter of William Edgar Turner and Vinnie Wigley Turner.

In the early 1930's, Aline sang on the radio with her sister Mary in Rome, Floyd County, GA. They were called the Turner Sisters.

On May 18, 1938, Aline married Lamar "Doc" Ross in Floyd County, Ga. They had one son named John Turner.

Mrs. Moyra Aline Turner Ross, 76, of 314 Greenwood Ave., died Saturday afternoon at a Rome hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Ross was born in Floyd County, Oct. 5, 1917, daughter of the late William Edgar Turner and Vinnie Wigley Turner. She was a member of West Rome Baptist Church. She was a house-wife and homemaker. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She served as organist and pianist of West Rome Baptist church for 22 years, organist at West Rome United Methodist Church for 15 years and, most recently, was organist and pianist at Lindale United Methodist Church. She was the staff organist for Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home and Talley Brothers Funeral Home.

Survivors include: her husband, Lamar Ross, to whom she was married, May 18, 1938; a son, John Ross, Franklin, Tenn; two sisters, Lois T. Shores and Mary Hairston, both of Rome; a grandson; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Dr. Larry Draper, Dr. Wayne Styres and the Rev. Ed Wadsworth officiating

MRS. MOYRA ALINE TURNER ROSS

Mrs. Moyra Aline Turner Ross, age 76, of 314 Greenwood Ave., in Rome, died Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PM at Redmond Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Ross was born in Floyd County, Georgia on October 5, 1917, the daughter of the late William Edgar Turner who died August 11, 1970, and Vinnie Wigley Turner who died January 8, 1992. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County her entire life and had been a member of the West Rome Baptist Church for 62 years. Mrs. Ross was a housewife and homemaker. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. Mrs. Ross served as organist and pianist of the West Rome Baptist church for 22 years; served as organist at West Rome United Methodist Church for 15 years; and at the time of her death, was serving as organist and pianist of the Lindale United Methodist Church, where she had been for the last 5 years. Mrs. Ross was the staff organist for the former Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home and Talley Brothers Funeral Home for a number of years. She was married in Floyd County on May 18, 1938 to Lamar (Doc) Ross, who survives.

Survivors include; her husband, Lamar (Doc) Ross; 1 son and daughter-in-law-John and Nancy Ross of Franklin, TN; 2 sisters-Lois T. Shores and Mary Hairston, both of Rome; 1 grandson, Andy Ross of Franklin, TN; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 4 PM from the graveside of the Oaknoll memorial Gardens with Dr. Larry Draper, Dr. Wayne Styres and Rev. Ed Wadsworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The following will serve as active pallbearers and include: Bill Burchfield, Sam (Red) Byrd, Addison Postell, Raleigh Gribble, B.M. Barna, Henry Mull, Maurice Newman and Edward Parker.

Mrs. Ross will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the body will lie in state after 3 PM this afternoon. The family will receive friends this evening from 5 until 8 PM, and at other hours, will be at the residence on Greenwood Ave.
