William Alexander Shores was the son of Abner Alexander Shores and Sallie Forby Shores of Floyd County.

Mr. Shores was educated in the Rome Public Schools and was a graduate of Rome High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercer University and was a graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Louisville, Kentucky.

Alex Shores married Lois Turner, June 20, 1936 in Rome, Floyd County, GA.

Reverend Shores was a pastor of many churches including Pleasant Hope Baptist Church and Spring Creek Baptist Church in Floyd County, the Ramah Baptist Church at Palmetto, The Lakeview Baptist Church in Cleveland, and Sharon Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia. His last position before he died, was pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cordele, Crisp County, GA.

Rev. W.A. Shores was active in religious and civic affairs in Crisp County.

Funeral services were held at 4 PM on Friday, August 30, 1968 in the chapel of Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Smith and Melvin T. Smith officiating with interment in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
