Eleanor Leah (Davis) Jones, age 72, of Plano, Iowa, died Thursday, January 6, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of the late Howard E. Davis and the late Ethel M.(Curtis)Davis at Melrose, Iowa, on June 2, 1932. In 1950, she graduated from Seymour High School.

On June 4, 1950, Eleanor was united in marriage to Dale L. Jones at the Plano christian Church in Plano, Iowa. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Eleanor was employed as a secretary at the elementary school in the Seymour Community School system for 37 years until her death and enjoyed the children. She was a lifelong member of the Plano Christian Church in Plano, Iowa. She was a very generous person, often contributing anonymously to those in need. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and attending the Iowa Girls State Basketball tournaments in March. She missed only two tournaments since she was in high school. She also enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair and camping there. Eleanor was a member of the Sarah Circle, Odo Club, a charter member of the GEG Club, and Treasurer of the Plano Museum Board, all in Plano, Iowa.

Eleanor was preceded in death by: her parents; stepfather Rex Wells; sister Geraldine Fadiga; brothers-in-law Neil Jones, John Fadiga and Wayne Harbold; stepsisters Leone Irwin and her husband Hershel; Lila Haines and her husband Harold; Dixie Millizere and her husband Frances.

She is survived by: her husband Dale of Plano, Iowa; her son Phil Jones and his wife Faye of Las Vegas, Nevada; dauughter Becky Fetters and her husband Brad of Clio, Iowa; sisters Gretchen Fadiga and Donna Davis, both of Centerville; granddaughters Dawn Rayl and her husband Stenen; Heather Jones and Brett Fetters; grandsons Phil Jones,ll and Colton Fetters; great-grandsons Braden Jones and Wyatt Rayl; stepbrothers Roger Wells and his wife Norma; Clive Wells and his wife Margaret; sister-in-law Joann Glenn and her husband Gene; Ielene Jones and Betty Harbold; brothers-in-law Donnie Jones and his wife Karen; Gary Jones and Morris Fadiga; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2005, at 1:30 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa, with Rev. David Welch and Rodney Randell officiating. Burial will follow at the Crossroads Centery in Plano, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2005, from 1 till 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 till 8 pm. Memorials can be made to the Plano Christion Church and can be left at the funeral home.
