MRS. EMMA BRIGHTWELL

Emma Brightwell, daughter of Phoebe Ann Boylan and Jacob McDowell, was born Jan. 31, 1870, north of Williamson, Iowa in English township. When quite young she united with the Christian church, and her entire life has been spent in Lucas county.

On March 3, 1895 she was united in marriage to Berry W. Brightwell. The couple have lived in the Chariton community their entire married life until death called Mrs. Brightwell June 14, 1952, after a lengthy illness. To this union was born one son, Harold, of Chariton.

Mrs. Brightwell is survived by her husband, one son, two granddaughters, Mrs. Robert Brown, of Chariton and Mrs. Deloris Butz, of Agana, Guam, and one grandson, Berry Brightwell, of the U.S. Navy, also two great grandchildren, Bruce and Gary Brown, of Chariton. She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home Monday, June 16, at 2 p.m., the Rev. G. D. Holman, of Vinton, officiating. Interment was made in the Chariton cemetery.

Acting as casket bearers were Gerald Boylan, Leo Carson, Joe Story, Voris Hixson, Geo. Bradford and Judd Askren. Many beautiful floral offerings were presented by friends of the family.
