He was born February 23, 1924 in Pine Grove, WV, a son of the late Willis and Addie Ingram Derby.
Leroy was retired from McElroy Coal Mine; served in the U.S. Army in Boulder, CO; and was a Christian by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Lee Derby; and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Wildman Derby; a son, Leroy (Virginia) Derby; five daughters, Bonnie (Glen) Gilbert, Linda (John) Keller, Darlene Richeson, Debbie (Tom) Dorey, and Rachelle Keller; a brother, Eugene Derby; three sisters, Edith Bates, Ruth Bates and Deloris Haught; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-9pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third Street, New Martinsville, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00pm with Rev. Larry Bayle and Don Pursley officiating.
Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, WV.
