Jimmy Short Coleman was born in Edinburg, Texas to Nathan and Eunice Viles Coleman.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Jean Hurd Coleman and his two children, of whom he was exceedingly proud, Kyle and Janie. Their spouses Edna and Marshall, and his two grandsons, Jacob and Josh. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Nathan E. Coleman and wife Clara, and Eunice Short Viles and husband Charles, his sister Robbie Nell and a brother Jackie Lamar. And by his in-laws Leslie and Lorena Hurd.

Jimmy was a long time member of Mesquite Trail Drivers Association, The Bexar County Sheriffs Mounted Posse and was Trail Boss of The Alamo Trail Ride. Jimmy and Peggy operated a Mobil service station on WW White Rd for many years. Jimmy also drove a cattle truck for George Light, owner of Light Cattle Company out of Lytle, Texas. He hauled many a head of cattle out to the California feed lots in and around Brawley. Jimmy was well know in Bexar County and surrounding areas for his black quarter horses. He made sure he was always mounted on a "good-un". His favorite mare, Buggy, made many a mile with Jimmy.

Jimmy was a man's man. Tough and boisterous on the outside, soft as a kitten on the inside. Always ready to lend a hand to the less fortunate. He was a hard worker and loved his family with no bounds.
