Born Easter Sunday, April 20, 1919, in Chapmanville, she was a daughter of the late John and Sarah Ward, who also had four other daughters and five sons.
Easter graduated from Chapmanville High School in 1937 and from Marshall University (B.A.) and the University of Michigan (M.A.). She was a teacher for over 30 years; first at Blair Mountain Schools including a one room school house then while living in Mitchell Heights at Justice Addition Grade School (7th Grade) until 1955; Finally she taught 6th grade at Pierson Elementary School in Flint, Mich., until retiring in 1978.
Easter and her husband, Joe, moved in 1978 to South Florida for their retirement years, finally residing in Wellington until her death on Wednesday.
Easter and Joe were married over 57 years and have two children: a son, Joseph Jr., and a daughter, Linda Kay (Evans) Schoeman. Also surviving are three brothers, Fred (Ann) Ward, Gene (Iris) Ward and John (Carol) Ward; one sister, Freda Spencer, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, at the Tillman Funeral Home in West Palm Beach, Fla. Burial will follow at Palm Beach Memorial Park in Lantana, Fla.
