He was married to Elizabeth Curran who was also from Ireland. They had several children: Catherine "Mrs. Richard Maher", Julian, William D., Annie and Thomas Curran.
On the 1850 Mortality Schedule, Patrick was listed as dying of Diarrhea in Augusta, Georgia. He was buried right across the Savannah River and up on the hill in Hamburg Cemetery, now called Schultz Hill Cemetery in Hamburg, now North Augusta, S.C.
