DEATH OF WM. RILEY LIERLE
HE WAS A PIONEER OF THE GERMAN BAPTIST CHURCH, AND HIS
Grandfather Fought in the Revolutionary War.
Many of the old settlers of Adams county will learn with regret of the death of William Riley Lierle, one of the pioneers of this county. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gibson of Girard, Ill., assisted by Rev. Garber, of Decatur, and Rev. Blubaker of Liberty. William Riley Lierle had been in the active service of the German Baptist church for half a century, and had officiated at numerous funeral ceremonies in the county, which gave him an extensive acquaintance. He was an American in the strictest sense, as his grandfather, Zachariah Lierle, was on of Washington's soldiers during the entire eight years of the struggle for independence.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Anne Lucas of Mounds, Ill.; Albert and William of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. J. Miller of McPherson, Kan.; Mrs. Caddle Enlow of Coffeeville, Kan.; Mrs. Nora Gillis and Mrs. Adella Lucas of Clayton, Ill.
Mrs. Lierle preceded her beloved husband to the grave some ten years.
Wm. R. Lierle was in his 88th year and had lived a successful and happy life, and his end was in accordance with such a life, very peaceful and serene.
