William McCrehin was born Feb 25 1869 in Rome, Oneida County, New York to James and Ellen (Sullivan) McCrehin and died Jan 25 1918. William was a merchant and spent the years 1890-1900 in the army.

William was veteran of the Spanish American War and fought in the battle of San Isadore. He married Nellie Searle on Oct 7 1905 in Clearwater County Minnesota. They had 4 children. Loren, Ellen, Lloyd, And Ralph.
He and his wife were both teachers. William taught school in the Alida area also at the log school at Leonard.
William and Reuben Holm had formed a partnership of the McCrehin and Holm's General store and Lumberyard which was the second store in Leonard. Later it became McCrehin's General Store.
William was the postmaster.
William died from Brights disease at the age of 49. Bright's disease is a kidney condition. He was only married to Nellie, his love for 13 years when he died.
