J.D. Bricker, resident of Ponca City, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Ponca City Medical Center. He was 79. He was born on Friday, May 2, 1930 to Jacob B. and Ida R. (Matthews) Bricker in Stillwell, OK.

He and his family moved and lived in Nowata, OK until moving to Ponca City in 1942. He attended Ponca City schools. J.D. worked for the Robyn Hood Flour Mill until joining the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. In 1963 he bought and ran the Bricker's Phillips 66 and ran it for 10 years. After selling the business he became a welder.

J.D. married Sheila Ann Gaines on April 30, 1954 in Blackwell, OK.

He is survived by his son Kirbey Bricker of Ponca City; grandchildren: Jami Hays and her husband BJ, Melissa Ruff and her husband JD, and Kelli Bricker; three great grandchildren: Carter Layman, Kaiden Ruff and Kailieb Ruff; and one brother Bill Bricker.

He is preceded in death by is parents, wife, and three siblings: Jim, Ruby, Ollie.

Graveside service held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. Paul Holmes, officiating.
