Edward Vernon Ammons, 77, of 255 Pierce Lane, Erwin, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at his home. He was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Harnett County, son of the late John Willie and Eva Byrd Ammons and was preceded in death by a son, Larry Ammons; and a sister. Mr. Ammons worked at H&S Heating and Air in Raleigh as an installer for many years. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Dunn, by the Rev. Johnny Sexton. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Angier. Survivors include his wife, Loral Godwin Ammons; daughters, Kathy Weaver and husband Tony of Benson, Carolyn Kopen and husband Terry of Dunn; brothers, Charles Ammons of Benson, J.B. Ammons and wife Marjorie of Erwin; and a grandchild, Joey Lucas and fiancee Amanda Holland.
