Dora Theresa Brown or Polly as we called her, was the seventh child and second daughter of Edward Trimble and Heneryette Brainard. Polly was born on September 20th, 1907 in rural Andrew County, on a farm on the outskirts of Jefferson City, Missouri. Polly grew up in that same house with her seven brothers and sisters. The 1940 census says that her highest level of schooling completed was her junior year in high school.

Polly married Ivor Frank Brown on Jan 20, 1931 when she was 23 years old. They had a child Robert I Brown whom they called Billy who was born in 1935. Polly and Ivor lived at 522 Monroe Street in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1940. For years, Polly and Ivor lived up on a hill behind the Dairy Queen. I have fond memories of my grandmother, Grace Andrea Trimble Borchers taking me to visit Polly and stopping to get us ice cream at the Dairy Queen. Every time I came down from Minneapolis to visit, Nan took me over to see Polly and every time we visited Polly we got to stop at Dairy Queen.

Polly lived in St. Joseph until moving to Gower with her husband, Ivor. After Ivor died, Polly fell into ill health and moved to a nursing facility in Gower, Missouri where she was living at the time of her death.

Polly is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri next to her husband, Ivor.
