Eileen left us to join her husband Donn this morning. Eileen was my mother-inlaw; her loss has left a huge hole in our hearts. She leaves behind her daughter Vicki, son Rusty and 5 grandchildren-Jon, Christopher, Evan, Miles and Chelsea. She was adored by all who had the honor of knowing her. I met Eileen when I was 15; she was like a mother to me. Always there when I needed a shoulder to lean on. I will never forget what she did for me, what she taught me about life and how she loved me no matter what stupid decisions I made. Eileen was always involved with something; like Swimming at the pool, she could out swim all of us. The martial arts classes she took. She was always helping friends when they were sick. Mom we love you!, and forever will miss you. Died of lung cancer. She fought a hard battle. Below is her obituary:
Emma Eileen Cripe
April 10, 1922 - March 30, 2010

Forever in our hearts...

Eileen was born April 10,1922 in Seattle to Jack & Josephine Pashea. She passed away March 30, 2010.

She was an only child and grew up amongst a big family of aunts, uncles, grandparents and her mom. Eileen graduated from West Seattle High School and married the love of her life, Donn Cripe, two months later. Donn and Eileen lived most of their almost fifty years together on Queen Anne and raised their two children there.

After selling their home on Queen Anne, Donn and Eileen moved to Ballard. After Donn's death in 1991, Eileen became very active in senior activities at the Queen Anne Recreation Center. She participated in water aerobics, Tai Chi, circuit training and learned to play Mah-Jongg at age 84. She volunteered many hours to the QA Senior lunch program and loved "Crafty Ladies".

Eileen loved her five grandchildren so much. She kept in close contact with Jon,Chris and Chelsea. She was a soccer grandma for Miles and rarely missed a swim meet for Evan. Team parents knew her simply as "Grandma". Eileen was also an avid fan of Seattle Storm and attended many games with her great friends Bion and Pat Barger.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Donn. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Rydinski (Michael) and her son Rusty Cripe. Grandchildren Jonathan, Christopher, Chelsea Cripe, and Evan and Miles Rydinski.

She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends. Eileen was a people person and never met a stranger. She lived a full and happy life.

A poem: Grandmother

We had a wonderful grandmother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful grandmother,
And that' s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She's still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let's make sure
She will like what she sees.

A POEM I WROTE FOR EILEEN:
FOR
MOM/GRANDMA

THE WIND BLOWS, YET WHISPERS SOFTLY YOUR PRESENCE
SOFT TOUCH IT PLACES UPON ON OUR FACE, WE KNOW IT IS YOU
OUR HEARTS WEEP' AT TIMES FILL EMPTY; SO WE MUST GO ON
THE WIND WHISPERS IT SO, KEEP STRONG; WIPE THE SWEET TEARS OF PAIN AWAY.
I'M WITH YOU. , MY ARMS ARE AROUND YOU; GUIDING YOU THROUGH THE PAIN THAT MUST BE LET GO.
YES YOU WILL MISS ME; BUT KNOW I'M OK AND AT PEACE.
WHEN YOU FEEL THAT SOFT WIND, KNOW IT IS ME HOLDING YOU CLOSE TO MY HEART
LET MY MEMORY BE YOUR STRENGTH
LET YOU'RE TEARS WIPE THE HURT AWAY
LEAVING ONLY SMILES AND LOVE
WE SHARED AS A FAMILY
KNOW MY LOVE FOR YOU IS STRONG
AS I KNOW YOUR LOVE FOR ME WAS AS STRONG
I LIVE WITHIN YOU ALL
TAKE THE MEMORIES
AND CRY NO MORE
