Service for Roy Elbert Thorn, Sr., 65, of Boyd was to be Saturday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m.
at the Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd. The Rev. Scott Moore was to preside. Graveside
service was to be at 3 p.m. in the Woodsmen of the World Cemetery in Seymour.
Thorn died on March 1, 2000, in Denton.
He was born on Aug. 10, 1934, in Seymour, to Johnny and Cynthia Elam Thorn.
Thorn lived in Boyd for 24 years. He operated Wild Fire Salvage. He was preceded in death
by his parents and one grandchild, Amber Thorn.
Thorn is survived by two sons, Roy E. Thorn Jr. and Randy L. Thorn; three stepsons,
Jimmy, Kenneth and Charlie Grimsley; five daughters, Rhonda Leatherwood, Ranee Schwandt,
Rhonda Ragan, Robbie Moss and Reggie VanOrsow; three brothers, J.D., Wesley and Jerry
Thorn; a sister, Janelle Sturgeon; 35 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Brandon Alls, Poose Alls, Ernie Wilson, Aaron Leatherwood, Phillip
Urango and Brian Dowell.
