Barbara Ann Mason, age 62 of Portage, IN, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 in Hobart, IN.
She was born June 1, 1947 in East Chicago, IN to Stephen and Marie (Durko) Teplicki, who preceded her in death.
Barbara was married for 43 years to Richard Mason of Portage, IN, who was a former basketball player for East Chicago Washington. Barbara is also survived by her sons: Eric and wife, Cheryl Mason and Ryan Mason, both of Chicago, IL. Barbara was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church. She was an English Teacher for Portage High School, retiring after 38 years. She was also the English Department Head for several years before she retired. Barbara was a past president of Kappa Kappa Kappa, and a member of its Scholarship Committee. She was also very active assisting Richard run the Post Tribune Tennis Tournament. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, IN, with Father Andrew Corona officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage, IN. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN. www.EE-FH.com
