Jerlene Grindstaff Calhoun, age 55, of Marion, N.C. passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at The McDowell Hospital.
Jerlene was born in Mitchell County on March 7, 1955 and was a daughter of Flora Young Grindstaff of Marion and the late John Leonard Grindstaff.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and a hard worker. Preceding her in death was two sisters: Louise Hall and Vera Grindstaff.
Surviving Mrs. Calhoun, in addition to her mother, are two children: Donna Calhoun Clark and Roy L. Calhoun of Marion; two brothers: Homer Grindstaff and Roy Grindstaff and wife Gaynell; four sisters: Joyce Capps and husband Floyd, Betty Jean Connor and husband Jerry, Ruth Lewis and husband Grover and Ruby Stryzek and husband Leo; two grandchildren: Ashley Nicole Biddix and husband Kirk and Christina Hope Allen; two great grandchildren: Trinity Sage Biddix and Sara Marie Biddix.
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 29, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Revs. Roger Gallion and Brian Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park.
