Mrs. Sara H. Duck, 87, Claysburg, died early Sunday morning, March 2, 1997, at Bon Secours - Holy Family Regional Health Systen, formerly Mercy Regional Health System, following an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 30, 1909, in Bellefonte, the daughter of the late George and Hanna (Gault) Barnes. She married Paul G. Duck in 1936. He died October 1944.

Mrs. Duck attended Claysburg United Methodist Church.

She retired as a cook/waitress from the Capitol Hotel, Hollidaysburg in 1972 after 30 years of service.

Mrs. Duck enjoyed reading, crocheting and watching television.

Surviving are a son David I. Barnes of Duncansville, two daughters; Judith K. Smith, with whom she resided,and Linda C. Rhodes of Dillsburg; two sisters: Georgie Wyerman of Altoona and Alice Leidy of Hillview Care Center; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by Liebegott-Fisher Funeral Home, Duncansville, PA. Services held there 11:00 a.m. March 4, 1997 with Pastor Barry Neal. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
