Martha A. Archuleta, age 96, a lifetime resident of Ocate, N.M., passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following a brief illness.

She was born in Los Hueros, N.M., on Dec. 29, 1913, to the late Jose Natividad Arguello and Maria Crestina Pacheco Arguello.

She was united in marriage in 1938 in Los Hueros to the late Jose Benito Archuleta.

She enjoyed working her ranch, taking care of her animals, baking, cooking, attending funciones, visiting with friends and spending time with family.

A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Ocate.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Natividad and Maria Crestina Arguello; husband: Jose Benito Archuleta; daughter: Betty Archuleta; brothers: Ben Arguello, Henry Arguello and George Arguello; sister: Pauline Valdez.

She is survived by her sons: Louis Archuleta and Telesfor Archuleta and wife Evelyn, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Ronnie Archuleta and wife Denise, Lawrence Archuleta, Robert Archuleta, Geraldine Dominguez and boyfriend Razman, Eluid Archuleta, Marvin Archuleta and Eric Archuleta, all of Albuquerque; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Esther Valdez of Los Hueros and Vitalia Vigil and husband Benny of Rapid City, S.D.; sister-in-law: Tina Arguello of Los Lunas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She will lie in state at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Ocate, with rosary services starting at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Ocate, NM with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Juan Batista Cemetery in Los Hueros with the following grandchildren serving as casket bearers: Ronnie Archuleta, Lawrence Archuleta, Robert Archuleta, Eluid Archuleta, Marvin Archuleta and Eric Archuleta. Serving as honorary bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
