Mrs. Alice Grace McCormick Ahern, wife of Timothy J. Ahern, died at 4:30 o'clock Monday morning at her home on F Street, surrounded by all the members of the family, except one son, John J. Ahern of Los Angeles, Calif., who had left for Salida that morning. She had been ill fifteen years and she was confined to her bed most of the time for the last four years. Mrs. Ahern suffered an acute attack April 15, but after a few days she rallied. There was another relapse last Friday, and beginning Saturday evening, she grew steadily weaker. She was conscious until the end. Mrs. Ahern was a model mother and patient sufferer. During all her illness she never complained, but maintained a cheerful, happy disposition. her children idolized her and she was happy in directing them. Her suffering left no marks upon her and in the last hours of her illness she had the beauty and the appearance of her youth.

Mrs. Ahern was born Nov. 8, 1880 in Pottawatomie county, Kansas. She was left an orphan at the age of 12 years. She received her education in St. Mary's Academy, Leavenworth, Kansas, and she became an accomplished musician. She was married April 23, 1902.

She is survived by her husband and five children. The children are John J. Ahern, Los Angeles, T. J. Ahern, Jr., Salida, Hugh I. Ahern, Salida, Miss Marjorie Ahern, Salida, and Miss Agatha Ahern, Salida. She is also survived by one grandson, four brothers. the Rev. W. H. McCormick. Syracuse, N.Y., Hugh McCormick and J. F. McCormick, both of Blaine, Kan., C. E. McCormick of St. Mary's Kan., and one sister, Mrs. T. J. Flemimg of Ponoka, Alberta Canada. Mrs. William Harvey of Salida is a niece.

Mrs. Ahern came to Salida with her family in 1918. She was a devoted member of the St. Joseph's Catholic church. Funeral serviced will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's church and interment will be in Fairview. Mrs. Mary Murphy of Canon City, sister of Mr. Ahern, arrived Monday morning, a few hours before Mrs. Ahern died. J. J. Ahern is expected to arrive in Salida Wednesday morning.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alyce Grace Ahern, wife of T. J. Ahern, were held at 9 o'clock Wednesda morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church, and were attended by a large number of friends. The Rev. M Boyle sang a Requiem High Mass, accompanied by the children's choir. Father Boyle preached an eloquent eulogy of the deceased, extolling her as a Christian and a mother. There were many beautiful floral offerings including pieces from Denver, Pueblo, Paonia and Los Angeles. The pallbearers were J. J. Madden, James Allen, William F. Reardon, J. J. O'Brien, John M. O'Connell and I. M. Sidenstricker. The services at the grave in Fairview also were conducted by the Rev. Father Boyle and were attended by many friends. Among those who came to attend the funeral were three brothers of Mrs. Ahern, J. F. McCormick and H. C. McCormick of Blaine, Kan., and C. E. McCormick and wife of St. Mary's, Kan., Mrs. W. P. Ahern of Frankfort, Kan., sister-in-law of T. J. Ahern, Mrs. Nellie Edmondson of Denver, Mrs. Joseph Bauer of Colorado Springs, schoolmate of Mrs. Ahern, J. J. Ahern of Los Angeles, son of Mrs. Ahern, Mrs. Mary Murphy of Canon City, sister of Mr. Ahern, and her daughter Helen and sons John and David.
