BLANCH KUNZ SERVICES HELD MONDAY Blanche Kunz, born May 12, 1889 in Ravenna, Michigan to Elenora and Morton Sturtevant, passed away at Skyline Hospital October 15th at the age of 86 years. On September 2, 1925 she was united in marriage to Amil Kunz of Laurel, Washington. He passed away in 1963.
She was one of the oldest pioneers on Underwood hill, being in and around this vicinity for 64 year. She, her husband, a child and a sister and family came from Michigan in the summer of 1911 by train to Lyle, Washington and then by horse stage coach to Glenwood. It was very dusty for the sisters' city hats, but it didn't take long for all to love this part of the country as well as the beautiful state of Michigan. Among their interests for hunting, fishing, camping and all woods activities, and flower gardening. They will long be remembered as a couple who loved their friends and the activities they enjoyed together, including the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving Mrs. Kunz are one daughter, Lyola Houston of Underwood, Washington; one sister, Hazel Christensen of Hood River, Oregon; for nieces, Dorothy Mast of Roseburg, Oregon, Berniece Holms of Woodland, Washington, Bessie Olson of Husum and Elva Baker of Underwood. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20th, at Gardner's Funeral Home with Mozart Burles officiating. Interment was at Chris-Zada Cemetery in Underwood. Casket bearers were: Bud Morby, Pete Morby, Frank Morby, Robert Morby, Larry Morby and Clyde Morby.
