Kenneth Ray Miller

SCAMMON — Kenneth Ray Miller, 82, of Scammon, KS died at 5:22 a.m., March 17, 2010 at his sons’ home.

Kenneth was born November 18, 1927 in Morris County, KS to A.R. and Erva (Harmon) Miller.

He attended a county school in Wilsey, KS.

Kenneth served his country in the United States Navy. While serving his country he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1948.

On November 29, 1967, in Bartlesville, OK, he married Mary Elizabeth Keith. She preceded him in death on September 2005.

Kenneth was a farmer and rancher all of his life. He worked at the Weir Brick Yard for a number of years and retired after 20 years at the Columbus CO-OP, as a bulk fertilizer operator.

He is survived by his son Allen Miller and daughter Rebecca Miller both of Scammon, KS; sister Jane Dixon of Council Grove, KS.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale H. Miller, sisters Ruth Putnam and Rebecca L. Miller.

Graveside services will 2 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 at Hosey Hill Cemetery with Brother Ray Clonts officiating.

Military rites will be given by the United States Naval Funeral Honor Guard of Springfield, MO.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Friday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Weir, KS.

Friends may call the funeral home after 1 p.m. on Friday.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1948. He received the Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He married Mary Francis Miller 1949 in the state of California.
He married Mary Jury 29 Nov 1967 in Ok. To this union two children were born Allen Ray & Rebecca Luann.

He attended the Highway Tabernacle Church in Cardin, Ok. He retired from the Farmer's Co-op in Columbus in 1999.

Survivors include son Allen, daughter Rebecca, sister Jane Dixon, aunt Lydia Jones, nieces & nephews.
