John Fiock Sr., born 1797 in Germany, he and his family left Hanover Germany about 1846 coming to America and stopping in Dubuque, Iowa, where his son George Jr. and his wife welcomed their first child of eight. John Fiock Sr. and son George wanted to travel west , so John Sr.'s other son John decided to travel Southwest and not come west with the others, the family parted. They traveled west in 1852 to St. Jo, Missouri where they took the Oregon trail west with thirty-six wagons in their train. They arrived in Yreka, Ca in October 1852. As far as is known there is still a Fiock Family Ranch in the Yreka area.
