This person is the elder member of this blood line of the Wolf family. Y-DNA testing was done 2003 but did not match to any other Wolf family in the FamilyTreeDNA bank as of Jan, 2016. It only established this blood line with two branches - Jacob Wolf b. 1740 and John Wolf b. about 1785 in MD. A proven paper trail link between these two branches has NOT been found. The John Wolf was about 45 years younger than our Jacob so could have been a grandson or grand nephew or other such family member.
Other of this Jacob's descendants have now done the mtDNA and autosomal DNA testing at 23andme and Ancestry also, but still no matches or clue as to the parents of this Jacob Wolf. The descendants of this Jacob Wolf do not believe that he was the son of George Michael and Elizabeth Rutter Wolfe as so many people are posting on Ancestry. A name for this Jacob's wife has not been found. In the 1790, NC census, and 1800 & 1810 KY census, he is listed in households as the only person. The 1830 census shows, and it is also recorded in history books, that Jacob Wolf was the oldest person in the AR territory at 90 years of age. Jacob was then living in the household of his only positively identified son, Michael. Jacob, his son, and his son's wife all died between 1830-31 there in Izard County, AR and are buried in the historic Wolf Cemetery which is located about three miles downstream from the Wolf House in Norfork, Arkansas.
Jacob could have had other children, but none besides, Michael, are documented as such. A George Wolf lived on adjacent land to Jacob in KY but was NOT found in the NC records at all. KY court records show the George Wolf selling his land at the same time that Jacob and Michael sold their land, and also show that he was living in Lawrence Co., AR as of that 1819 transaction. There is an E. Mildred Wolf in Izard county in early 1800s that her descendants have oral history stating she was related, but no documentation can be proven. There was a John Wolf, who was an early day mail carrier in the Izard County, AR area during the same time frame that Jacob and his son Michael were living there, but no family relationship has been established by documentation.
