Battistello Rites Today
Mrs. Maria Battistello of R. 1, Centerville, passed away Friday at 11:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Hospital at the age of 78 years, 4 months, 4 days. She was born May 30, 1890 in Italy, and came to the United States and this community in 1909.
Her husband John Battistello, preceded her in death Sept. 26, 1954, at Centerville.
A daughter Elizabeth Battistello of Centerville, a daughter-in-law, Mary Battistello of Pella and two grandchildren, John Jr., and Mrs. Marilyn Hamre of Pella, and seven great-grandchildren all survive.
Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, John Jr. on Nov. 2, 1955.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and funeral services were held there Monday at 9 a.m. Father Richard Steinemann conducted services and burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Rosary services were held Sunday at 7 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home.
