Joyce Estelle Pierce Riordan was the daughter of Jerry and Mamie Gartman Pierce.
She was married to Samuel Jeremiah Riordan on April 6, 1953. They had six children:
Elizabeth Dianne
Frank David
Danny Ray
Samuel Jeremiah
Rita Faye
Karen Sue (Weaver) buried next to her

Joyce also has two grandchildren buried close to her: Frandy Delon Riordan Dyson and Channing Lee Riordan.

Joyce was killed in an automobile accident on December 15, 1971, along with her youngest sister Katie Marie. Katie's daughter Donna Kaye was also in the vehicle. Though critically injured, she survived. The women were returning from a Christmas shopping trip in Mobile, when their vehicle, driven by Katie, attempted to pass another vehicle, striking it and then leaving the road and hitting a tree. The other driver was not seriously injured.

Joyce was survived by her parents, her husband, her children,one brother,four sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held on December 18, 1971 at Freeman Funeral Home with interment following at Lambert Cemetery.
