Roszell Cashier Dies at 75

Funeral Services for William N. Metzel, 75, of 103 Bell Vista Ct., well-known Peoria resident, who was found dead at his home Friday morning, will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Cumerford-Endsley Memorial Home.
The Rev. B. H. Bodine of First Methodist church will officiate and Masonic rites will be conducted by Peoria Lodge 15. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the memorial home Sunday afternoon and evening.
Mr. Metzel had been a cashier for the J.D. Roszell Co. for the last eight years. He returned to Peoria in 1947 from Fort Smith, Ark., where he had been the sales manger for the Wotrtz Banking Co. In earlier years he had been associated with the National Biscuit Co. for 15 years and had been sales manager for the Thomas & Clark Co. Bakery her for 11 years before going to Arkansas.

PRINCEVILLE NATIVE

A son of Aquiila and Elizabeth Rice Metzel, he was born at Princeville Sept. 27, 1879. He married Elizabeth Breymeier in Peoria, June 26, 1901.
Mr. Metzel was a member of First Methodist Church and was active in Masonic circles. He was a member of Peoria Lodge 15 AF &AM; Peoria Consistory, Scottish Rite and Mohammed Temple, Shrine. He had been interested deeply in the work of DeMolay, having assisted with the organization of the order here in 1923, and had served as chairman of the advisory board of Creve Coeur Chapter. Inn 1926 he was chosen a DeMolay "Dad" at the first state convention
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mr. Orval J. Carey of Peoria; two sons, Dr. C. W. Metzel, also of Peoria and H. N. Metzel of Lansing, Mich., and six grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
