Was a Confederate POW, Nov, 1862 roll of wounded prisioners discharged from Alton, Illinois with his brother Ransom Mauldin and sent to Itawamba County Mississippi hospital base.
The Mauldin family had came all the way from North Carolina through South Carolina to Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama to Mississippi. They had land and were very successful farmers in this area. Hiram and Elizabeth had 13 children, 11 still living when they arrived in Mississippi.
