Married Polly Caroline Burgiss 14 Sept 1841 in Itawamba County Mississippi, married by Rev David McClung, she was born in Alabama. They lived in Prentiss County, and he and Polly are buried in Lee County Mississippi.

Son of Hyrum Hiram and Elizabeth Whitworth Mauldin of Itawamba county Mississippi.

Was a Confederate POW, Nov, 1862 roll of wounded prisioners discharged from Alton, Illinois with his brother Ransom Mauldin and sent to Itawamba County Mississippi hospital base.

The Mauldin family had came all the way from North Carolina through South Carolina to Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama to Mississippi. They had land and were very successful farmers in this area. Hiram and Elizabeth had 13 children, 11 still living when they arrived in Mississippi.
