MRS. GREEN WOODRUM, 76, DIES ON FARM WHERE SHE WAS BORN
Mrs. Green Woodrum, one of the highly respected pioneer ladies of the county, died at her home in the Asbury vicinity on Wednesday following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held yesterday (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock at the old Asbury church, which she so dearly loved, conducted by the Reverend H.N. Calton. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
Martha J. Gwinn, daughter of Harrison and Sarah Gwinn was born on November 4, 1843, and was at the time of her death, 76 years, 5 months and 3 days of age. On February 21, 1867, she was united in marriage to Green Woodrum, who died in 1893. To this union three children were born. They were: Mrs. Lina Vass who resided with the mother; Edward Woodrum, deceased; and John W. Woodrum of Middlefork. She also leaves five grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother, Milton Gwinn who has made his home with her for the past several years, and a large host of relatives and friends. She was converted at the age of about 15 years at the Battle Ground Camp Meeting, uniting with the Methodist Church at Asbury, remaining a faithful member of same until it was disbanded, at which time her membership was transferred to Darwin. until declining health made it impossible, she had always remained a faithful member. All of her life, with the exception of about three years, had been spent on the farm where she was born. She will be greatly missed by her many friends over the eastern part of Carroll County, who have known her for so long.
