wed to Ivan Barry February 19, 1952 in Wahoo, NEDarlene was born April 5, 1927 on the farm near Cheney, Nebraska, south of Lincoln, where she grew up. She was the youngest of 7 children born to Alvin Leslie and Laura (Cumings) Magee. At the age of 16, Darlene graduated from Cheney High School as the Valedictorian of the 1943 class. Then she began working in Lincoln at an automobile dealership as a secretary.

On February 19, 1952, Darlene was married to Ivan Barry in Wahoo. They lived on a farm near Malmo. Ivan died March 10, 1999, and in 2001, Darlene moved to Fremont. This was the first winter since 1992 that Darlene had not spent in Mesa, Arizona.

She was presently a member of The Presbyterian Church of Fremont, and until moving to Fremont had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. There she had been a Sunday School teacher and member of the Presbyterian Women. Darlene had also been a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge, and she was a bowler. She was a member of an extension club in Malmo and she was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter in Wahoo. Darlene was also a 27 year cancer survivor.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Alvin Leslie and Laura Magee, her husband Ivan, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
