Mrs. Murphy was born in Lake Charles and resided there until moving to Ragley 15 years ago. She was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School and of McNeese State University with a B.S. in Business Administration. Mrs. Murphy was the office manager for Guth Dairy for over 20 years. She was a member of Squyres United Methodist Church where she belonged to the United Methodist Women (UMW).
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, George W. Murphy III of Ragley; two sons, Jeffrey Lynn "Jeff" Murphy and wife, Lisa of Sulphur, and Randall Wayne "Randy" Murphy of Welsh; her parents, Vere and Marvin Guth Sr. of Lake Charles; four siblings and their spouses, Harold Guth and Grace of Lake Charles, Marvin Guth Jr. and Joan of Nashville, Tenn. and Alice Wyrick and Ken and Charles Guth and Claire, all of Lake Charles; special sisters, Brenda DeWolf and Faye Adams and husband, Jack, all of Welsh; two grandchildren, Connor Ryan and Cara Reese Murphy, both of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a special sister, Dorothy DeWolf.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Squyres United Methodist Church in Ragley. The Rev. Jason Sheppard will officiate. Burial will be in Squyres Risinger Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Monday until time of services in the church.
Pallbearers will be Jack Adams, Neal Stanfield, Kevin Merchant, Stanley Sanders, Walter and Bryan Guth , and Jeff and Randy Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Squyres United Methodist Women.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Squyres United Methodist Women, 13936 Hwy. 171 North, Ragley, LA 70657.
