According to Family Data Collection-Births, Hiram's parents were Georgia natives Curtis Corley and Charity Miller Corley. Public trees on Ancestry.com (without any sources) give Mr. Corley's dates as 1779-1837 and Mrs. Corley's as 1795-1860.

The 1860 U.S. Census (Randolph County, Alabama) gives Hiram's occupation as mechanic; he had $1,000 in real property and $400 in personal property; Caron had $500 in real property and $2,500 in personal property. The 1870 U.S. Census (Gwinnett County, Georgia) shows Hiram working as a laborer and and does not show that he or Caron owned real or personal property. The 1880 U.S. Census (Gwinnett County) states that Hiram was a farmer (and did not ask questions about property ownership.)

Hiram and Caron's children seem to have been:
* William T. V. Corley (born circa 1847,)
* Sarah A. A. Corley (born circa 1848,)
* John H. Corley (born circa 1850,)
* Hiram Corley (1850-1928,)
* Nancy E. Corley (born circa 1854,)
* Mary Corley Jenkins Dilda (1858-1925,)
* Mary Corley (born circa 1858,) and
* Thomas A. Corley (1862-1945.)

Information other than that found on grave marker was taken from U.S. Census enumerations for 1860 (with spouse and six children ages six-to-13, in Randolph County, Alabama,) 1870 (with spouse and two children, ages eight and 12, in Gwinnett County, Georgia) and 1880 (with spouse and son Thomas, 19, in Berkshire, Gwinnett, Georgia;) Family Data Collection - Births; Family Data Collection - Deaths; Georgia Death Certificate 33369-J (re: son Hiram.)
