Hazen Truman Stairs, 79, of Randolph passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 2, 2009, at Maine Veterans' Home in Augusta, after a brief illness. Hazen was born Aug. 2, 1929, in LaGrange. He was the son of Truman Stairs and Elsie (Crane) Stairs. Hazen attended schools in Milo.
He spent time in the Army as a heavy-artillery repairman and was stationed in Alaska. On Oct. 22, 1955, he married his beloved wife of 53 years, Gloria Lorraine Robinson, in Dover-Foxcroft. They later moved to Randolph to live and raise their family.
Hazen was predeceased by his parents and six sisters, Buelah Richards, Inez Russell, Marguerite Ladd, Arlene Hall, Greta Murphy and Helen Allen, and most recently, his daughter, Sheryl Stairs, in 2008.
Hazen is survived by his wife, Gloria Stairs, of Randolph; his son, Scott Stairs and his wife, LeeAnn, of Randolph; his daughter, Pamela J. Theriault and her husband, Roger, of Farmingdale; two beloved grandchildren, Garrett Stairs and Kassidy Stairs, of Randolph, whom will greatly miss their Grampie. Hazen was well loved by all and will be sadly missed by many.
A committal services with military honors will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, in the chapel at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. (Kennebec Jouranl 4/7/2009)
