A 20-year-old former East High student was reported killed in action in the Vietnam war yesterday. Army Pfc. James E. Sparks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sparks of 1593 E. 84th St., was the 298th greater Clevelander to die in the war. He served with the 25th Cavalry, First Division.
Pfc. Sparks,native of Cleveland, moved to Los Angeles in 1966, where he finished high school. He was working in Los Angeles when he was drafted. He had been stationed in Vietnam less than a month. In addition to his parents, Sparks is survived by five brothers and three sisters.
