Married Jane Parrish April 7, 1843 in Mahoning County, Ohio.
Children: Simon Syrus, John Wesley, Sarah E, Madison Daniel, Martha and Mary (twins), Addison, Amanda, Clara and Laura Belle (twins).

Married Lavina Callahan February 21, 1869 in Mahoning County, Ohio.
Children: George W, Gleason F, Emma F, Elsie Gertrude, Alice.

He was the older brother of Susannah, Sarah Ann, Catherine, Wesley, Jesse, Hannah, David, Silas.

Jonas was a farmer, who by the time of his death in 1896, owned a farm of 100 acres said to be well stocked and in good condition. He was a Republican and a Methodist and was known to possess ability as a conversationalist and enjoyed arguing upon questions of the day, on which he was well informed. Jonas left behind a reputation of honesty and upright dealing with his fellow men. (Quote from Ethel Bush Packey's The Coy Family book published 1988).

"Greenford - Jonas Coy, an old resident of this township, died Friday evening of last week. The funeral took place Monday forenoon. Services were held at the Disciple church, Rev. Bergner officiating."
