DAILY IOWA STATE PRESS: August 5, 1901: George Fry, an esteemed pioneer of Johnson County, passed away, yesterday morning at 4 o'clock in Frank Pierce.

He had been ailing a long time and had been bedridden for three weeks. He was past 92, having been born in Ohio, June 14, 1809. He came to this county in 1849 and lived here from that year until the end.

He leaves three sons and two daughters, with whom scores of friends will sympathize in the loss of the noble father. The funeral took place this afternoon at two o'clock at Frank Pierce.
