Former Madison Man Succumbs
Jay Wesley Ferris, 91, G. A. R., Succumbs in Minnesota
Jay Wesley Ferris, 91, a veteran of the G. A. R. and formerly of Madison, died recently at his home in Redwood Palls, Minn. He was a brother of the late Eugene S. Ferris, for 30 years a Madison drayman. Born in New York, he came to Madison with his parents who made their home near Madison. In 1864, at the age of 18, Mr. Ferris enlisted In the Union army and served until February, 1865. He married Miss Rhoda Driesbock, Madison, in 1872, and in 1876 the family went to Minnesota in a covered wagon. They lived at Redwood Falls since. The Masonic order and the American Legion took charge of the burial of the services at Redwood last week.
