Rev. Walter F. Fornes was a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, New York. He was ordained in Innsbruch Austria on July 8, 1908.
Before World War I, he was pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Darien Center, and at the same time, Chaplain of the 65th Regiment which he served when in Mexico, and when it became the 106th Field Artillery in France during World War I. When he returned in 1919, he became administrator and then Pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Williamsville.
Father Fornes established St. John Neumann High School and coached Baseball and basketball teams there.
