William D. 'Bill' Ake, 91, of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, formerly of Altoona, Lock Haven, Emporium, PA and Seneca Falls, NY, died Sun., Feb. 14 at the home. He was born in Altoona, to John A. & Myrtle Margaret (Sprenkle) Ake. He married C. Elizabeth 'Betty' Greenleaf Feb. 23, 1941, in Martinsburg. Survived by wife of 69 years; daughter, Constance Rishell (William), South Windsor, CT; son, William G. (Margaret), Mill Hall; 5 grandchildren; 8 gr. grandchildren; brother, James, Huntingdon and sister, Elaine Frazier (Patrick), rural Martinsburg. Pre-deceased by sister, Elizabeth; brother, John Robert and an infant daughter. Bill was a 1935 graduate of Replogle High School, New Enterprise, and attended Juniata College, Huntingdon, majoring in business. He began his career with Sylvania, Altoona, in 1943 as an accountant. Later, he held similar positions in company facilities in Mill Hall, PA, Woburn, MA and Waltham, MA. In 1962 he was named senior systems analyst in Williamsport. In 1963 he was appointed supervisor of cost control in Emporium, PA. He retired in 1986 as controller of manufacturing cost for GTE Sylvania in Seneca Falls, NY, after 43 years of service. Member of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg. Private interment, Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Bolger Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
